Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch is a whiskey produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery. The name is not chosen by chance, but it is a tribute to the founding father of the bourbon industry, that is Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr, who immediately after the end of the civil war, bought the OFC distillery, developing new techniques for the production of bourbon.
Once poured into the glass, intense aromas of wood spices, white pepper and vanilla reach the nostrils, followed by nutmeg and a touch of balsamic herbs, where menthol stands out.
Sweet and enveloping. Notes of wood, white pepper and caramel are perceptible. Then cocoa and dried fruit in shell. It is oily on the palate.
Medium-long persistence. Aromas of white pepper and cocoa develop.
Overall, the Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch is a bourbon that is a little shy on the nose, but that goes wild on the palate, releasing an aromatic palette of good harmony and balance. The bouquet is not particularly large, as is the case in other bottlings of the brand.
