Bunnahabhain Apple Smoke Cooper's Choice has been releases in 2021 as part of the Cooper's Choice line, and boasts a long maturation in American Oak barrels and a non-conventional finish in Calvados barrels.
Intense and pleasant, smoky peat between mineral / marine and herbaceous. Under the smoky blanket at times the cereal, malty and intense, creamy, appears, with clear influence from the casks, which provide a sweet apple character, well balanced. In the glass the herbaceous note finds its way through.
The entrance is reminiscent of a Mexican enchilada with abundant habanero, green and spicy, complex and appetizing for the taste buds if you can overcome the initial impact. The savory/spicy component makes you salivate for a long time; on these sensations is grafted a surprising and excellent final apple creaminess, which becomes sweet. Rather deep and complex, multifaceted.
Medium-long, between sweet apple and peat, but also remembering the distant traces of Mexican spices.
Bunnahabhain Apple Smoke Cooper's Choice is overall a whisky with deep and complex aromatic palette, which varies from high quality peat to the spiciness of Mexican dishes, up to the composed and pleasant apple sweetness. The high ABV makes it a product that gives a meditation drink, varied, which captures the attention of the taster.
