Ardbeg has launched the second edition in its Vintage Millennium series: a smoky, 24-year-old Islay single malt finished in Amontillado sherry casks. Bottled at 47.8% ABV and priced at $800, this limited-edition whisky is available online and at the Ardbeg distillery.
Distilled in 2000, during a pivotal revival of the distillery, it was crafted from some of the last spirit run through Ardbeg’s historic still, which was retired in 2001. Dr. Bill Lumsden blended this with stock from the millennium-aged in bourbon barrels.
The series debuted in 2024 with the 94-point Ardbeg Vintage Y2K 23-year-old, aged in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, featuring packaging inspired by glitchy computer screens reflecting Y2K anxieties.
