Located in the heart of Fort-de-France, Dillon has been developing its rum-making expertise since 1779. This rhum comes from the 2013 harvest and spent long years aging in French barriques before being bottled at cask strength in a limited series of 1,750 worldwide.
It develops a triumph of noble wood spices, tropical fruit, and a visou vein marked by orange zest. It’s powerful to the palate and almost spicy at first, but it then moves to toasted wood, leather, wax, jam of tropical fruits and candied citrus. The finish is long, peppery with elegant notes of dark tobacco. It’s explosive, but expressive; rich, but harmonious; and intense, but perfectly balanced. A must.
95Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
