Distilled in Vietnam in September 2018 and aged for three years in ex-cognac casks in a tropical climate, this rum was bottled in 2022. It is the first aged rum from Indochina Distillery, located south of Hoi An.
It boasts scents of pan brioches, vanilla, custard, candied pineapple, and ginger, followed by wood and resin nuances and notes of cherry in alcohol, orange zest, and litchi. The palate, after the initial explosion of peppercorn, delivers brown sugar and candied ginger. A strong visou kicks in with brine and balsamic. The finish is medium-long, with hints of brine, underbrush, candied tropical fruit, resin, and leather.
91Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
