Chichibu 10yo is a 2025 release from the Japanese distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008. Located in Saitama, Chichibu combines Scottish traditions with Japanese innovation.
The nose is highly fruity, with a velvety texture, evolving into notes of orange honey and warm spices. The palate delivers exotic fruits and rich custard, with balsamic herbs adding balance and depth. The finish is long, creamy, fruity, and subtly balsamic. A superb release, complex and fruity, with touches of pure magnificent complexity, now at a more accessible price compared to the past.
96Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
