Second release by Shizuoka distillery, the result of the union between selected malt whisky from the legendary Karuizawa pot still and a wood-fired pot still. Both Japanese and European barley were used.
The main notes are centered around orange honey and apricots, with a mellow texture. The fruity spirit is gracefully married with bourbon casks, and the creamy influence of virgin oak can be perceived. Butter, sponge cake, Navel oranges with sugary vanilla, and crepes suzette. A pinch of salt and hint of smoke. Roasted nuts towards the end. Two different souls in this whisky.
94Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
