Considered lost for years, Lot 40 is one of Canada’s alcoholic jewels that luckily has become once again worldwide available after the productive troubles of the 2000s. The third release of the cask strength version of this nowadays mythic rye whiskey arrives on shelves bottled at a whopping 57% ABV after an integral maturation in French oak cask.
Pecans, nutmeg, and maple syrup, along with cereal biscuits. On the palate noble wood, black pepper, pecans, and orange peel. Long and peppery finish, with peppermint, cloves, and wood varnish.
92Among the whiskies tested during the year in blind tastings and reviews, those who scored the best were selected. These products were then tested once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
Since 2016 CigarsLover Magazine releases the top 10 whiskies of the year. This list will be published in detail in the Winter 2020 issue of CigarsLover Magazine.
