Distilled from a blend of 16 cask marks HLCF, aged in ex-Sherry barrels from Bodegas Fundador, the last batch of the Jamaican distillery is a luscious triumph of funkiness and sherryiness.
It delivers a bold yet polished profile: the nose bursts with overripe pineapple, dark berries, and raisin syrup wrapped in oxidative sherry warmth; the palate is dense and expressive, merging tropical funk with fig, cocoa, and spiced oak; the finish is long, warming, and slightly dry, layering dried fruit, tannin, and Hampden’s unmistakable estery lift for a deeply characterful sherry-matured Jamaican rum.
93Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
