It is the fruit of the collaboration between the two legendary figures of Fred Noe, Jim Beam’s master distiller, and Shinji Fukuyo, Suntory’s chief blender. Fred developed the recipe of the mash, which first matures in virgin oak casks and then gets split between Californian red wine casks and sherry butts. Finally, Shinji mastered the perfect blend.
Vanilla, pecan nut, leather and milk chocolate, with a touch of red fruit are present on the nose. Cocoa, wood, caramel and a toasted vein are revealed on the palate. Long finish, with spices, vanilla and nutmeg.
91Among the whiskies tested during the year in blind tastings and reviews, those who scored the best were selected. These products were then tested once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
