#8 – Glendalough Pot Still Peated

COUNTRY: Ireland
ABV (PROOF): 46% (92)
PRICE: $ 64 | € 56
TYPE: Blended

It is a 2025 release, using both malted and unmalted barley. It is distilled in traditional copper pot stills and aged for over seven years, initially in ex-bourbon casks, followed by an additional four years in sustainably sourced Virgin Irish Oak from Greenan Forest.

The nose presents a creamy, sweet malt profile with custard, honey, and apples, complemented by light earthy peat and toasted oak. The palate is creamy with baked apple, warming spices, almonds, and subtle smokiness. The medium finish features semi-sweet spices, almond, and earthiness. A dynamic, layered whiskey worth exploring.

HOW ARE THE AWARDS MADE

Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.

This list will be published in detail in CigarsLover Magazine issue #5 .
