TYPE: Pure cane juice rum
It is a pure amber cane juice rum made from organic cane in the city of Huautepec, located in Oaxaca, in the south of Mexico. It is aged for 18 months in American oak barrels, then bottled without reduction.
It develops scents of natural rubber, tropical fruit, herbal nuances, sugar cane, wood polish, and some roasted scents. The palate is smoky, with notes of tar, olive brine, roasted plantain, licorice, and cashews, enriched by a touch of honey and aloe. The finish is medium-long, with peppercorn, coffee, cocoa, and caramelized muscovado sugar. Despite the high ABV, it is enjoyable without the addition of water.
91Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
