KANOSUKE DOUBLE DISTILLERY

#7 – KANOSUKE DOUBLE DISTILLERY

COUNTRY: Japan
ABV (PROOF): 53% (106)
PRICE: $ 105 | € 105
TYPE: Blend

This blend is a release from the two distilleries owned by the family in Kagoshima, created mixing single malt spirit distilled at Kanosuke distillery and whisky from malted and unmalted barley distilled at Komasa’s family’s Hioki distillery. Both spirits are aged at Kanosuke.

Very expressive from the beginning, with orange and toasted linseed oil seeds, balanced, welcoming, and velvety. The palate is quite elegant, yet interesting with orange oil, toasty oak, refreshing herbs, and a minor spicy kick. Creamy, with a medium, clean finish. Quite an original blend, pairing single malt with a rare Japanese single pot still whisky.

HOW ARE THE AWARDS MADE

Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.</p
