Made by GlenAllachie’s Master Blender, Billy Walker, this ron was aged in the tropics in American oak casks and then moved to mature in the Speyside in red wine, virgin oak, and ex-bourbon casks.
It exhibits scents of vanilla, almonds, honey, raisins, honeydew, and apple peel. Nuances of coconut. The palate is round and explosive, with aromas of crème brulée, toffee, candied tropical fruits, orange zest, licorice, and marzipan. The finish is long, delivering a touch of coffee and rich spices: cayenne pepper, paprika, candied ginger. A complex ron, capable of delivering a rich and deep flavor profile.
93Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
