It is a blend of pot still and column distilled rums, aged for a minimum of 20 years in ex-American whiskey casks and finished for a year in ex-PX casks in the tropical heat of Barbados.
It delivers rich, ripe fruity scents, with plums, dates, and mangos. Then butterscotch and a mix of baking spices, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla, with maraschino and oak. The palate explodes in dark chocolate and tropical fruits. The butterscotch and the vanilla are there as well. There is also a light vegetal touch, accompanied by pecans and custard. The finish is long, with coffee beans, salted caramel, red licorice, and tobacco. A meditative product with incredible depth and structure.
95Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
