For the second consecutive year, Texas-based distillery Garrison Brothers is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation that celebrated the state’s Independence Day. During this event, the distillery released 1,000 exclusive bottles of Cask Strength Balmorhea bourbon, sourced from 11 single barrels selected by master distiller Donnis Todd. For each bottle sold ($230 per bottle), Garrison Brothers will donate $50 to the foundation to support its mission of preserving Texas’s wildlife, lakes, and waters.
Moreover, this event marks a shift in the distribution of the popular original cask-strength release, Balmorhea bourbon, which is now a Texas exclusive. Both the cut and uncut versions of this bourbon contain a mash bill composed of 75% white corn, 15% winter wheat, and 11% barley. It undergoes double aging, spending four years in charred new American white oak barrels, followed by an additional year in another new barrel of the same kind. Since its initial release in 2017, sales of Balmorhea bourbon have also benefited the Lone Star State; for every sale, $5 has been donated to help restore the Balmorhea State Park Swimming Pool, which is the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pool.
