Jack Daniel’s has unveiled its 2021 Single Barrel Special Release, Coy Hill High Proof. This is the fourth release in this annual release series. This high-proof Tennessee whiskey celebrates the highest hill on the Jack Daniel Distillery property in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Coy Hill. The whiskey used for this release is the signature 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye grain bill. The whiskey goes through the mellowing process, which is directed through 10-feet of maple charcoal, then goes into the barrels for aging. The barrels used were aged on the topmost levels of the oldest barrel houses Rickhouses #8 and #13 on Coy Hill. This bottling shows the art of whiskey making, and how where a barrel house location can make a unique final product.
The 2021 Coy Hill High Proof is bottled uncut, minimal filtration, and bottled at barrel strength. Since it is a single barrel bottling, the proof will range from 137.4 up to 148.3 (68.7% to 74.15% ABV). This will be the highest ever proof release for Jack Daniel’s distillery. The 750-ml bottle has an MSRP of $70.
