Armorik 10yo "Edition 2023" is the latest release from the Warengham Distillery in France. This spirit spent its decade of ageing initially in bourbon casks before being moved to oloroso sherry casks for a finishing period. It has been released in 5000 bottles.
Brilliant nose, under different aspects. It Fresh butter notes which are hitting straight from the beginning. Then the fruity side takes over, with nuances of ripe yellow and tropical fruit (apricots, peaches, melon, pineapple, guava). The two dimensions meet in a buttery apricot croissant with almonds. Toffee and caramel are also present. Very nice and nuanced, with good intensity.
Again nice intensity, alcohol is present but not aggressive. Aromas are intense and entrance is warm. with a generous white pepper character, followed by a citric hint before the ripe yellow fruit takes over. Maple syrup.
Medium-long, with resounding spices (again white pepper and something fresher, greener). Toffee in the second part.
Armorik 10yo "Edition 2023" is a very nice product, featuring an excellent, complex buttery and fruity nose and a satisfying palate with a nice intensity of aromas and an interesting white pepper "kick". A very rewarding experience.
