This Tun 1401 includes nine ex-Bourbon barrels and three European Oak Barrels, which were united for three months in the marrying tun 1401, built specifically by workers of the distillery. The youngest contains whisky from 1991, the rest is older, from the 80s or even the 70s.
initially muted, it is very approachable. The gradation, even if high, is not percepted that way. It concludes with suave notes of pine needles and cinnamon.
the first sip is fresh. It unleash spicy notes, a mix of paprika and black pepper. Honey and butter, supported by coffee and cocoa are revealed afterwards. Very balanced and round.
of long persistence. Initially dry, it releases wood, honey and milk chocolate.
The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 8 presents a good complexity, it is also an extremely enjoyable whisky that is easy to appreciate. Balanced to perfection and with an excellent intensity.
