Released in 2008, this Benriach is repurposed annually and is now part of the core-range. It is described as Intensely Peated and takes its name from the moor located near the distillery. It is a young product, without declared age, that should deliver a "peaty level" completely different from the Islay whisky.
rather peated. It starts off with smoky notes, followed by black pepper. There is also a light note of sulfur, together with hints of citrus (lemon and lime). Rather simple.
you can feel the peat together with spicy hints of white pepper. Then it continues with citrus (lemon) and yellow fruit (apple). Slightly mentholated after a few moments.
medium persistency. It develops notes of peat, white pepper and apple.
Benriach is creating several good quality, structured and pleasant products. This Birnie Moss is not a very complex one and it is equipped with a limited intensity. It is a decent whisky, but that's it.
