Bernheim 7yo Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey is a release from Heaven Hill Distillery named for the famed Bernheim Distillery in Louisville. The mashbill is composed of 51% wheat, 37% corn, 12% malted barley.
Pleasant, of medium intensity with juicy orange, orange honey, vanilla, fresh oak and a refreshing side. Some sweet spices. Clean and approachable.
Spices are more upfront, however still sweet. A slightly bitter herbal component, minty despite the absence of rye in the mash. The core is sweet, of light toffee and caramel, with vanilla powder and juicy peach and orange. Body is light and the spirit is rather "high".
Short and clean, fresh and pleasant, maybe not very complex or deep.
Bernheim 7yo Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey is a nice product. The profile is thin and light-bodied, with nice flavors of yellow fruit and vanilla, with a very nice sweet spices component. For a wheat bourbon, the creaminess is not the main characteristic. It is very balanced and pleasant.
