Bowmore Aston Martin 10yo "Dark & Intense" is part of the collaboration between the two companies in a series of travel retail expressions called the Designed by Aston Martin collection. It incorporates three whiskies: Bowmore 10 Years ‘Dark & Intense’ Bowmore 15 Years ‘Golden & Elegant’ Bowmore 18 Years ‘Deep & Complex’ They are released on a yearly basis and feature drawings of beautiful Aston Martin cars on the carton box. The series will be available in Duty Free worldwide. The tested sample is from 2023 release.
Many different nuances are interleaved in a nice texture: bacon, leather, oranges, minor hints of tropical fruit with the smoke to keep everything together. The sherried notes are lively yet fresh. Good balance. It seems older than 10 years.
For a 40% ABV product tastes are rather intense and well defined; it features chocolate, tobacco and leather on raisins, with a minor salty touch. Really gentle smoke. Some reviewers have described it as "dark maple", which I find it a great description.
Rather short, slightly salty smoke and a gentle fruity hint. Maybe the least performing of the phases.
Bowmore Aston Martin 10yo "Dark & Intense", despite a not very extended aging, shows signs of products of much longer maturation. It is a very well crafted sherried product which, despite the basic 40% ABV, fills nose and mouth with elements such as raisins, hints of tropical fruit and light peat, which are trademarks of the distillery. Palate is also nice put together, with several different quality sensations. Better than the standard 10yo.
