The Bushmills Original is the most known and available bottling from the Irish brand, which, as per tradition, distills this whiskey three times. The recipe for this “Original” was born well before the Prohibition period. This bottling is born from the union of a single malt and a grain whiskey, the latter matured for 5 years.
Fruity hints of pear and vanilla are accompanied by a floral touch and some cereal biscuits.
It releases notes of vanilla and honey, enriched by a fruity component of pear and an touch of citrus.
Medium persistence. Spices (white pepper), malt and honey are perceptible. The fruit is perceivableas last, along with a vegetal hints.
Overall, the Bushmills Original is a simple whiskey with a rather low aromatic intensity. All the youth of the distillate can be perceived, which however is particularly easy to appreciate, thanks to both the low ABV and the harmonious flavor profile.
