Chichibu 10yo is a 2025 release from the Japanese distillery. Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, the Chichibu distillery has quickly established itself as a key reference in the world of Japanese whisky. Located in the Saitama region, it makes it a point of honor to work with an artisanal approach, combining Scottish traditions and Japanese innovation.
Extremely fruity (ripe peaches, apricots, melons, gentle pineapple, a touch of ripe orange) and velvety, a true ode to Japanese whiskey masterpieces. Then it opens up to more complex hints of orange honey and a warm, suadent spices dimension, reminding of a used handmade winter blanket.
Since the very beginning it boasts a fantastic exotic fruit lingering on rich custard for a true "patisserie" experience. The overall impression is refreshed by a touch of light and classy balsamic herbs balancing the sweetness and providing depth. The suggestion is of light warmed salty butter, on top of which a crush of fresh white pepper has been added.
