Chichibu Distillery II is a 2025 release from the Japanese distillery. It is the inaugural single malt from its brand new sister distillery, named Chichibu II, which can count on direct fire stills. The malt is 90% unpeated and 10% peated. It is said to having been obtained from 95 casks.
Extremely warm and open, welcoming and rewarding. It is delicatly and nicely fruity, with ripe apples jam, sweet and deep spices, with a delicate smoke which is lingering on the nose. Compact and integrated, with absent alcohol.
A true processed fruit explosion (apples and apricots, medium ripe peaches), with refined and fresh custard, a touch of sweet smoke and rich nutmeg, delightful. Perfect ABV and integration.
Beautiful, medium-long, very classy and fruity, sweet but with an excellent balance.
Chichibu Distillery II is a great first release, from a distillery which is promising to continue providing excellent whiskey to all the lovers of Japanese Single Malt, this time hopefully in slightly larger quantities and availability.
