Dalmore Valor is a "travel retail" edition no longer in production. This single malt Scotch whiskey is produced in the Highlands and is left to age in a mix of first fill ex bourbon casks and oloroso sherry. The whiskey is then refined in ex-port barrels from the Douro region of Portugal. The bottle is 100 cl.
On the olfactory analysis it reveals notes of fresh wood, followed by fruit aromas, mainly green apple peel and banana. Subsequently also spices (white pepper and hints of saffron) take over.
The spicy notes of white pepper and paprika are confirmed on the palate, but also hints of red fruits (apple and strawberry) follow. The aromatic profile is then completed by a hint of rhubarb and cardamom, which give depth.
The persistence is medium - long. Returns notes of cocoa, red fruits and a touch of dried fruit.
Overall, the Dalmore Valor is very captivating on the nose, but on the palate this Scot is less structured and satisfying. The same goes for the ending, which is evanescent.
