Darroze has been producing Bas-Armagnac since 1974. It is a French company owned by the second generation. It would appear that the 12-year bottling of Armagnac Darroze is a blend of Colombard, Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc.
Equipped with a good intensity. It releases fresh notes of apple, raisins, cooked peach and sweet spices, followed by caramel. It looks a bit more focused than the 8YO version and although it matured longer, it somehow feels fresher.
Good start. It develops notes of raisins, cooked apple and dried mango, along with a touch of vanilla, wood spices and varnishes.
Medium-long persistence. Very dry. Raisins, sawdust and tannins.
Overall, the Darroze Grands Assemblages 12YO is a good Armagnac, although it doesn't offer a great leap in quality over the 8YO, as both are good in their own way. However, the 8yo ( click here for the tasting notes ) has a higher final grade.
