The Depaz Vsop Réserve Spéciale is a rum produced in that of Martinique, therefore we are in the Lesser Antilles. The distillery is located at the foot of the Pelée volcano, right in front of the Caribbean sea. It was completely destroyed during the eruption of 8 May 1902. It was later rebuilt by Victor Depaz. This rum is aged for at least 6 years.
intense aromas of red fruit, among which black cherry and cherry stand out, are supported by a gentle vein of spice from the wood in the background. Then it's the turn of caramel and almond echoes. To complete the bouquet, dark chocolate.
Burnt caramel and red fruit, where black cherry and plum are the protagonists, are followed by dark chocolate and wood spices.
Short persistence. Fruity echoes and a bitterish flavor. A hint of rhubarb.
Overall, Depaz Vsop Réserve Spéciale is a rum with a wide aromatic palette, but which is not very incisive on the palate, due to an aromatic intensity and persistence, rather contained. Very drinkable.
