dark and deep; black cherries in spirit, plums also immersed in alcohol. The contribution of a high ABV is perceived, even if it seems fairly well integrated. Muscular. Black currant that borders on the balsamicity of some medicinal herbal candies. Rhubarb.
very consistent with the nose, it starts nice and warm without exaggerating in the spiciness, with the fruity side always in evidence; still plums and black cherries, less dark than on the nose and juicier. Alcohol better integrated, which well supports a deep structure of aromas and prolongs the experience. The sweetness is present, perhaps the least refined part.
of medium duration, in which the less sophisticated sweetness and a distant dark fruit return. Balsamic at times.
Distillery 291 Single Barrel Colorado Rye Whiskey is overall an interesting whisky, whose high ABV prolongs the experience thanks to a good integration. The scents are consistent and well calibrated for a dark and muscular drink, but fruity and of good quality. The sweetness is perhaps the least successful part, a bit simple and one-dimensional, while the balsamic dimension remains very interesting.
