Fuji Single Blended is a 2023 release, blend of single malt and grain whiskies made at Fuji Gotemba distillery. The mash is said to include barley from Scotland, Rye from Canada and corn from US.
Nice, mellow and velvety, yet intense despite the not so high ABV. Coconut and creamy vanilla with minor peaches and some menthol herbal hints, maybe provided by the rye. The corn component is very silent. There is a light varnish hint, yet minor and not disturbing, to which a rose water freshness is added.
Some richness is provided, with a warm welcome. The toffee core is helped by side notes of balsamic herbs and sweet-savor spices. Balanced and well executed.
Medium duration, still on sweet toffee.
Fuji Single Blended is a very well crafted product, intense and rather complex, despite an etry level ABV. Quite a smooth and enjoyable product, not only a light Japanese whisky release.
