Glen Garioch could be the oldest Scottish distillery: there is no concrete evidence, but tradition places the data of the first distillation well before 1797, official foundation date of the Highlands distillery. The cask is the number 3730.
some distinctive features of the distillery emerge, such as black pepper and cooked meat. Spices evolve over time: white pepper, cinnamon and saffron. There is also a sweet fruity vein (dried apricots and sour cherries).
medium-high intensity. Spices dominate the first part. Black pepper and saffron are followed by fruity nuances of strawberry, black cherry and cherry. The spicyness is constantly increasing.
of long persistence. Spices, red fruit and black pepper are perceptible. A certain astringency can also be perceived due to the cask.
Overall, the cask seems to have given some dryness to a rather determined spirit. The aromatic palette is however ample, interesting and well blended.
