TASTING NOTES - GLENDALOUGH 7YO MIZUNARA FINISH

Nose

Very particular and evocative; the fruit is between black (plum, blackcurrant, blackberry) and dark red (very ripe black cherry), with a hint of juicy raisins, deeply impregnated with alcohol. The alcoholic component is not completely dormant. Everything is accompanied by a balsamic scent, Ricola candy with Blackcurrant.

Palate

Very consistent with the nose. At the entrance the alcohol appears very polite, well managed. The flavors that reach the palate take up the theme of ripe blackberries, currants (perhaps without enhancing the natural acidity, here not very pronounced). There is a complex sweetness of blackberry jam. Perhaps a distant touch of wine, but more reminiscent of a Tawny Port than a red wine. A slight bitter balsamic note, pleasant, which provides deeper structure to the experience. Dark chocolate.

Finish

Medium, balsamic and slightly bitter, of burnt and clotted jam. A distant precious woody component.

Glendalough 7yo Mizunara Finish is overall very interesting and unusual. Not always perfect, as in the case of the slight note of alcohol on the nose, but capable of returning an experience different from the most usual profiles and therefore fun and stimulating. The palate is an interesting surprise, with very well managed alcohol and hints of a ripe and slightly acidic black fruit jam, which continues with variations in the medium-long finish, of sure interest.
