We recently talked about the launch of this 10 Years for Lagavulin: it is a rather young whiskey for the distillery that completes the core-range, despite its availability being exclusive to the Travel Retail circuit, therefore selected airports in the world.

The whiskey in question ages for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks, part of which is rejuvenated; information is scarce as often happens for bottlings of this kind. The bottle is however available, at higher prices, from other channels.
peaty and smoky notes accompanied by a discreet sweetness of caramel and dried fruit. Licorice, orange peel and black pepper, then echoes of camphor and spices of good complexity. Iodine notes after a few minutes in the glass.
light start, predominantly sweet notes, light spiciness of black pepper. Ripe fruit, apple and dried apricot. Licorice, iodized and maritime echoes. Very polite palate.
medium persistence, licorice, black pepper, flavor and fruity notes. Balsamic echoes of rosemary.
An unexpected Lagavulin, at times distant from the other tests of the parent company. The palate is light, without adequate complexity, and has sweet notes that are difficult to identify. To underline the wide drinkability which alone justifies the purchase of the bottle (at the correct price); for complexity, intensity and elegance it is best to look elsewhere.
