Legent Bourbon is a whiskey resulting from the collaboration between two legendary figures such as Fred Noe, Jim Beam's master distiller, and Shinji Fukuyo, chief blender of Suntory. Fred has developed the mash recipe that first matures in toasted virgin barrels and then is divided for the finish between Californian red wine barrels and ex-sherry barrels. Finally, Shinji takes care of the blending process, bottling at 47% ABV.
It releases vanilla, brown sugar, pecan, leather and milk chocolate, with a touch of red fruit and sometimes almost dark (cooked black cherry) fruit. Orange peel. Soft and inviting, very well balanced and deep.
Cocoa, wood, caramel and a toasted sensation. At times it resembles a black cherry covered with milk chocolate. Very persistent.
Long, with wood spices, vanilla, nutmeg and sweet licorice.
Legent Bourbon is overall a product that redefines the canons of traditional Kentucky Straight Bourbon giving it the creaminess of a Japanese blended and the complexity of the most successful red wine finishes; there are many souls of this dark, rich, and sumptuous bourbon, but the final result captures and fascinates, for a deep and complex dram.
