The Lindores MCDXIV recalls the year 1494, because that is the year of the first officially recognised site of the first distillation of Scotch whisky, when King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt. This whisky was matured in ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and shaved, toasted and re-charred ex-Burgundy red wine casks.
On the nose, there are scents of yellow fruits, such as apple and white grapes, together with hints of sulfur and some roasted woody flavors.
On the palate is rather smooth, with seasoned wood, ginger, vanilla, and wood spices. There is also a touch of honey.
Medium finish, with notes of wood and ginger, together with a cinnamon touch.
Overall, the Lindores MCDXIV is a smooth whisky, easy to enjoy. The flavor profile is quite harmonious, although it lacks in terms of depth and structure.
