AnCnoc Rascan is a Scottish whiskey that was introduced to the market in 2015. Today it is no longer in production. The peat level of this scotch is 11.1 PPM. This whiskey has been aged in ex-bourbon barriques for almost 10 years. The name Rascan is not accidental: whiskey gets its name from tools that are used to cut peat.
The first impact is markedly peaty. Subsequently, the aromatic profile is enriched with notes of vanilla and honey, along with refreshing notes of citrus, mainly cedar and orange peel.
At first glance it is peaty and spicy (white pepper), with a hint of vanilla. But delicate notes of red fruit and cedar also open up. There are also some notes of roasted coffee.
Medium persistence. Peated and spicy, it also has a weak component of licorice.
Overall, AnCnoc Rascan is a fine Scotch whiskey, peaty but not overly nor dominant. It is a well balanced and satisfying whiskey to sip.
