Reservoir Holland's Ghost is a limited edition, distillery bottling bourbon released in 2017, which has been matured in our one-of-a-kind alligator char "small barrel" casks for a minimum of two to three years, then finished in a local Richmond (VA) stout barrel for nearly two and one half years. The mash is composed of 15% wheat, 70% corn, 15% rye.
Very aromatic and open, with average quality vanilla and oaky hints. The sweet profile is quite important. Some distant bitter/sweet herbal components, on an orange dipped in chocolate note.
The entrance is lively and salty, but it soon turns into important sweet spices component, stabilizing on the sugar crust covering cherries. Cotton candy or hard candy. Little artificial, yet intense notes.
Not as long as expected, quite short and still oriented to cherry-flavored hard candy. Sugary and little basic in terms of profile, yet intense and very aromatic.
Reservoir Holland's Ghost is a no compromise product; those loving the straight, direct aromas of cherry hard candy and average vanilla, with oaky components, will like the intensity. The ones looking for more depth and richer, complex profiles, or more sophisticated aromas will be slightly disappointed. Sincere and honest, with a high ABV providing a juicy, intense experience.
