After the 2000 vintage, regarded by many as a real masterpiece, Saint James distillery bottled this 2001 vintage.
very complex. Red fruits: strawberry and sour cherries along almonds and dried figs. Marzipan and light rhubarb notes are followed by cocoa powder, coffee and black pepper.
sweet and mellow. Notes of dark chocolate, coffee and yellow fruits: apples, peaches and apricots. They are followed by sultanas and figs. It's oily and lightly spicy.
long, with notes of ripe fruits, spices, chocolate and espresso.
This vintage is pleasantly rounded, the edges had been trimmed off by ageing. The only flaw might be its lack of surprises.
