Teeling Crystal Single Malt is a 2023 limited edition from the Irish distillery which undergoes a dual fermentation with Distillers Yeast & White Wine Yeast. Then it is Triple Distilled and aged in Teeling's warehouses in Virgin American Oak barrels. The outturn is of 18'000 bottles.
Straight from the beginning it is a dessert-style kind of whiskey, thick and dense, extremely creamy. Stewed pears and milk chocolate, brown sugar and many different cakes flavors are just super-imposed.
The dessert sensations are also quite present, together with the major creaminess. Chocolate and sponge cake, with fruit jam, custard and Alchermes spirit. The description may look very unbalanced, yet the result is quite the opposite despite the sweetness.
Medium duration, still rather sweet, yet pleasant in terms of creaminess and thickness.
Teeling Crystal Single Malt can be well described as a dessert-style whisky, mainly because of the aromatic palette, which reminds several different cakes and patisserie products. The risk here was of releasing a diabetic bomb, rather the balance is quite nice, despite the sweetness. The palate is enriched with a creamy and rich texture, which is the best aspect of the release.
