The Lakes Nostalgia is a 2024 release from the English distillery. It is said to be crafted as a celebration of passing time, to make every sip of whiskey a snapshot. A rose-tinted reminder of the golden days gone by.
A nice assemblage of Oloroso and ex-bourbon; it is definitely fruity, with poached pears, peaches and fresh cherries and strawberries. The red fruity components are less juicy than in the intentions of crafters, reminding the dried strawberries of cereals. Spices are semi-sweet and also on the dry side. The second nose is more complex, on caramel brittle, cherry blossom, vanilla and chocolate truffles.
Little dry in the first sip, it is still fruity in the form of raisin and fig, with juicier orchard fruits of plum and pear coming second, paired by vanilla, chocolate and butterscotch.
Lingering oak, dark chocolate and cherry drops.
The Lakes Nostalgia is a rich product, less juicy than expected, with hints of great quality Oloroso, for a wide aromas palette and perfect intensity. The intended images in the description of the master distillers are maybe not the most fitting.
