Royal Cane New Yarmouth Jamaica 1994 is a rum made from molasses, produced in one of Jamaica's most iconic estates, the New Yarmouth Distillery. The peculiarity of this product is in the exclusive 25-year aging in American white oak barrels, entrusted to the tropical climate of the island. In 2018 the barrels crossed the Atlantic Ocean to reach England, where they rested for a further 3 years in the Liverpool Docks.
Extremely rich in esters, the long aging of this rum transformed the classic funky Jamaican notes in an explosion of panbrioche, vanilla, caramel, toasted nuts, and citrus essential oils.
The palate is outstandingly intense with loads of sweet and spicy scents that stimulate a seemingly endless mouthfeel.
The finish is long and elegant: caramelized citrus, peppery and mineral echoes, graphite, and Earl Grey tea.
Overall, the Royal Cane New Yarmouth 1994 is an extremely complex and multifaceted rum, where the high ABV must be managed with wisdom and patience in order to perceive the aromatic spectrum and its thousand nuances. Once this threshold has been crossed, the dram is decidedly intriguing and worthy of being savored drop by drop. This product took second place in our 2022 Rum Awards.
