Among the bottlings produced by the Irish brand, Tullamore D.E.W. The Legendary is undoubtedly the most popular. The three letters D.E.W. stand for Daniel E. Williams, the General Manager of the late 19th-century distillery. Like most of the Irish whiskeys, this Tullamore is produced through a triple distillation. The Legendary is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
It takes a just few moments to release hints of ripe fruit and green apple, together with a sweet and enjoable peppery note.
Ripe fruit (mainly pear) and orange marmalade are supported by vegetal hints.
Medium persistence. Notes of green apple and a black pepper touch. Wooden hints.
Overall, the Tullamore D.E.W. The Legendary is a balanced Irish whiskey and easy to appreciate. It has a discrete aromatic complexity, despite being the entry-level of the brand.
