Wolfburn Love Potion is a limited release from the Thurso distillery mostly matured in Oloroso sherry casks, with a minor contribution of fresh bourbon barrel matured whisky too.
Pleasant yellow fruit notes (apricot, peach and apple), a touch of grapefruit, sided by a very minor marine, iodine component. Alcohol is well managed, yet the nose results into a good intensity one. Some good level of creaminess; salted butter.
The entrance is again quite spicy; this aspect tends to be a little intense, with the creamy yellow fruit that takes some time to emerge after the initial kick. Some lemon peel, including some white portion of it to take care of a minor bitter note.
Medium length, creamy and lemon-based. Minerality has a very long persistence, maybe even too much to make the fruity component shine.
Wolfburn Love Potion is a nice product from an olfactory point of view; alcohol is well managed, yet the intensity is present and the fruity component is quite varied. Unfortunately the sip turns very sapid/spicy and, though not unpleasant, tends to obscure a little the fruity side, which fights to shine.
