Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a particularly popular and well-known Japanese whiskey. This bottling was released in 2014. This whiskey is aged in barrels that contained French wine, Bordeaux specifically, and Sherry. During the maturation, a passage is also made in Japanese oak barrels, the well-known Mizunara.
Fruity, with intense notes of pear, and citrus, with cedar and lemon. Notes of honey and vanilla are also perceptible. A hint of unripe hazelnut is released after a few moments in the glass.
Sweet and oily. It releases notes of wood spices, berries, and candied fruit, where orange stands out. A rich apple note is also perceptible.
Medium persistence. The apple and the spices of the wood are proposed again, now enriched by nuances of citrus and vanilla.
Overall, Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a particularly balanced and harmonious Japanese whiskey. Enveloping and soft, it is very easy to appreciate.
