Wigle Whiskey, based in Pittsburgh, has launched a cask-finished rye in its Reserve series. This unique double cask expression is aged for nearly 10 years, with 6 years in oak, 3.5 years in sherry casks, and an additional 6-month finish in mezcal casks.
Wigle, founded in 2011, revitalized Pittsburgh’s distilling scene and is named after Philip Wigle, a key figure in the Whiskey Rebellion against Hamilton’s first excise tax in the U.S.
Only 256 bottles were released and retail for $75 per bottle. It has an ABV of 46%.
