The Chocolate Malt Whisper, originally released in 2021, was a “happy accident” that occurred when notes from chocolate malted rye carried over into another batch of bourbon. Now, Woodford is reviving this concept with Chocolate Whisper Redux 139.4.
This new 12-year-old bourbon has a remarkable 69.7% ABV (, making it the highest-proof whiskey Woodford has released. Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall notes that this high ABV results in a long finish and bold flavors. Like its predecessor, this whiskey is part of the Distillery Series, aimed at exploring creative boundaries.
Limited bottles are available at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, online, and at select retailers in Kentucky, with a suggested retail price of $100 for a 375 ml bottle.
