Limestone Branch Distillery announced Yellowstone Family Recipe. This new bottling is inspired by a recipe found in notes from Beam’s grandfather, Guy Beam. To better reproduce it, cloned yeast using DNA from a yeast jug belonging to Beam’s great-grandfather. Yellowstone Family Recipe reflects the original Yellowstone Bourbon mash bill and carries its original 6 year age statement. It is this recipe that Stephen Beam has been distilling at Limestone Branch Distillery since 2015 and is now ready to share with the world. According to Limestone Branch, “a nose of toasted caramel, candied nuts, tobacco, and oak. A bold Kentucky straight bourbon flavor that includes citrus, toasted oak and hints of marzipan and spice; and a medium, nutty finish.”
The production of the new Yellowstone Family Recipe will be limited to a total of 6,000 cases. The plans are to release it on an annual base. For 2022, it will be commercialized in April, it will be available in Montana, Wyoming, and Kentucky (including the distillery), to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone National Park. In August and then in the fourth quarter, two additional allocations will be available nationwide. It is bottled with an ABV of 50% (100 proof) and has a suggested retail price of $70.
