Highland Park Fire is a Scottish whiskey aged for 15 years and entirely matured in Porto refill casks.It is bottled at an alcohol content of 45.2%. It was a limited edition, with a circulation of 28,000 bottles, packaged in a very particular way , which recall a volcano.
At first glance, it develops fruity notes of red apple and rich cocoa aromas. Spices follow, which are outlined in black pepper and cinnamon. Echoes of cereals and faint balsamic notes complete the perception on the nose.
Immediately it is spicy, with white pepper protagonist and with a very slight presence of saffron. A slight smoking is also soon outlined. Then it is the turn of yellow fruit and light citrus notes (lime and cedar).
Medium to long persistence. It releases spices, white pepper is confirmed, and balsamic aromatic herbs.
Overall, Highland Park Fire is a well balanced Scotch whiskey with good harmony. The aromatic palette is not particularly large and the expectations for this 15 years were greater. That said, it remains an aromatically intense and satisfying product.
