Being a Kavalan Solist means that the whiskey is bottled cask strength and it is a single cask. In this case, the distillate is aged in ex-bourbon cask in the tropical climate that is the signature of these made in Taiwan whiskeys.
To the nose it is sharp and intense. It delivers rich peppery and fruity notes (apple and pear), together with vanilla and honeyed hints.
It exhibits aromas of cocoa, along with a candied fruity note. Wood is also well perceivable, together with honey. There is also a peppery vein.
The persistence is long. It releases notes of cocoa, wood and wood spices.
The Kavalan Solist Bourbon Cask is an intense and tasty whiskey. The persistence is long, also due to the very high ABV. The suggestion is to water it down a little, to reduce a bit the alcoholic component and make the aromatic profile easier to enjoy.
