The Francois Voyer VS is the entry level cognac of the brand. It is made is a Cognac made with Ugni Blanc grapes from the Grande Champagne. It is aged in casks made with French wood, coming from the Limousin region. This VSOP is aged for at least 2 years. The Chauchet-Voyer family has been distilling since the 1870s and owns a 28-hectare estate in the Grande Champagne region, using only the wines distilled from their own grapes.
Aromatic and rather delicate. There are brown sugar, flowers, and some honeyed wood notes. Very simple, sweet, and with a reasonable amount of freshness.
Sweet arrival, with notes of caramel, dried apricot, and vanilla. It is a little on the dry side. The bouquet is then completed with some earth, pine needles, and grass. Light spirit, decent mouthfeel.
Shortish. There are some aromas of peach marmalade, soft oak, and black tea.
Overall, the Francois Voyer VS is a rather decent product for being “only” a VS. That said, the VSOP version of the Francois Voyer is on another level.
